Monthly Moodboard - Neutral Nursery

Monthly Moodboard - Neutral Nursery

Here at Hope & Jade we've been working on new ways in which we can inspire and help you create magical spaces for your kids in your home. We're happy to introduce our monthly moodboards, where each month we will feature a moodboard packed filled with ideas and inspo for a particular style room. Our boards will also feature all links where you can "Shop the look" from some of our favourite businesses! This month we're kicking it off with one of the most popular style rooms on the gram...the Neutral Nursery!

Hello Baby

One of the very first spaces us mums get to plan and create for our little babes is the nursery! And with more and more couples deciding to keep the gender a surprise, the hype for neutral nurseries is on the rise. So with nesting in full swing we often spend so many hours planning our nursery and all those special memories we will share with our baby in that space. But when it does come to a planning a neutral nursery there's one massive tip we all must remember....It won't stay neutral forever!

Boy or Girl

More often the not the neutral nursery is a starter room and once baby has made their way into the world some colour may be added to the space based on the babies gender. So for this very reason its so important to make sure we keep the neutral nursery adaptable and allow colour and themes to be easily added to the room without needing to start all over again.

Saving big bucks

Setting up a nursery can be an expensive time and the last thing we want to do is break the bank buying all new things once babies gender has been revealed. Best way to avoid overspending is to keep the big ticket items completely gender neutral. So items such as the cot, change table, bassinet, and feeding chair. If you stick to neutral colours such as white, wood or even pale grey then you can easily adapt the room for a little boy or little girl as those colours work perfectly with almost any colour pallet and theme. Bonus tip: If you keep the big items neutral, they can be easily passed on to siblings, cousins or friends regardless of their gender saving you some big bucks!

Our top picks

There's some absolutely beautiful neutral nursery options out there that can help you create an incredible space in your own home for your new little arrival!

Some of our top picks are:

Wall paper or decals

Keep them neutral in either soft grey tones or for a touch of colour we're loving the Forest Leave Sage removable wall paper by Minnie & Me Interiors

For the cot and the change table we suggest keeping these big ticket items as neutral as possible. Colour can always be added later through bedding choices and décor pieces. We're loving the Aspen Cot by Mocka and the Teeny Change table by Incy Interiors

Play mat

Squishy play mats are all the rage and are especially great in nurseries as they are so easy to clean and perfect for tummy time. We're a huge fan of the Mikro Australia play mat in the Geo Grey design

Wall art

Keep it cute and simple with these beautiful gender neutral animal prints. Effie the Elephant and George the Giraffe

Play time

Babies love play time and we love the Jimmy baby gym by Nester and Cub.

A beautiful grey canopy is perfect for a neutral nursery and can be totally adapted to suit a little boy or a little girl. Our top pick is the Grey round canopy.
